SUPERVISOR OF INSTRUCTION

DESCRIPTION

The Supervisor of Instruction program is designed for certified teachers who want to move to an administrative role at the school or district level. A Supervisor of Instruction works directly with teachers to improve curriculum and instruction, resulting in improvements in student achievement. Management and implementation of professional development, teacher instruction, and data interpretation is the main focus for a Supervisor of Instruction.

Upon successful completion of the program requirements, candidates will be recommended for Supervisor of Instruction certification.

Level 1

EDA730 Introduction to School Leadership by Leading Teaching and Learning (3 hours)

EDA732 Leadership for Human Resources Development in Schools (3 hours)

EDA734 Finance and Legal Aspects for the Supervisor of Instruction (3 hours) 

EDA736 Advanced Assessment for Supervisors of Instruction (3 hours)

EDA738 Instructional Coaching: Building Teacher Capacity through Mentoring and Collaboration (3 hours)

Level 2 (6 hours required for 5-year renewal)

EDA739 Internship in Ed Leadership: Instructional Supervision (6 hours)

Level I: 15 hours

Level II: 6 hours

The first phase of the program is the completion of 15 credit hours for Level I certification. The second phase is the completion of 6 credit hours for Level II certification. There are no in-person class meetings. Assignments and project implementation can be based on your current or desired employment.
