Certification in Moderate and Severe Disabilities (MSD) enables you to teach students with MSD in grades P-12.
There are three pathways to earn certification in MSD:
Certification only (requires current Learning and Behavior Disorders certification)
Master of Arts in Education in Moderate and Severe Disabilities
Master of Arts in Education Teacher Leader with Moderate and Severe Disabilities certification (requires current Learning and Behavior Disorders certification)
Upon successful completion of program requirements, candidates are recommended for either an MSD Grades P-12 certification or a Master of Arts in Education degree with MSD Grades P-12 certification.

ECE604: Teaching Individuals with Physical or Multiple Disabilities
ECE606: Transition Services for Students with Disabilities

The Certification only program is a 15 credit hour program. The Master’s program is a 39 to 42 credit hour program. The Master’s Teacher Leader is a 33 credit hour program. There are no in-person class meetings. Assignments and project implementation can be based on your current or desired employment.
